Shona has a Doctor of Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne, with experience working in various settings including neurological paediatrics.

Shona’s interest in neurological conditions stems from first-hand experience with a family member’s hemiplegia and intellectual disability, and has been deepened through experience working in neuro paediatric physiotherapy, seeing the effect physiotherapy can have on daily function and quality of life.

Shona has completed additional professional development in multiple areas including sensory modulation and the Bobath Concept, a problem-based clinical approach to treating neurological conditions, and combines this with her experience in neurological physiotherapy to optimise functional outcomes and neurological recovery.

Shona is passionate about improving quality of life and independence for persons with disabilities, and understands the importance of mental, social and emotional wellbeing in assisting each client to achieve their individual goals.

Shona’s understanding of disability through the lifespan from children to adults is an asset to supporting families through transition.

In her spare time, Shona enjoys dancing, including ballet and hip hop, as well as weightlifting and rock climbing. She also has working knowledge of Makaton sign language.
